NABFEME Summit

NABFEME RETURNS WITH THE 2018 INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S LEADERSHIP SUMMIT

Philadelphia, P.A. – The National Association of Black Female Executives in Music and Entertainment, Inc. (NABFEME) will host the 2018 International Women’s Leadership Summit – ‘The MisEducation of Women in Entertainment’ from Sept. 27-30 at the International House Philadelphia located at 3701 Chestnut Street. The conference will serve as both an empowering and educational safe space meant to equip women of color in music and entertainment with the proper tools to succeed and thrive in the industry.

The NABFEME Summit has evolved significantly since its inception in 2001. What began as a simple conversation amongst black women working in the entertainment industry has since morphed into an invigorating, thought-provoking conference that amplifies the voices of women of color who work in all aspects of entertainment and music.

For the 2018 Summit, attendees can look forward to a variety of speakers and events that are designed to address the needs of women holistically – for both the mind and spirit. Attendees will have the opportunity to start their day with a group meditation or exercise before heading to their scheduled educational sessions. This year’s Summit will feature the following seminars and panel discussions:

  • Digital Culture: Technology & The Business of Social Media
  • Justice or Just-Us: Respect, Social Injustice & Workplace Misconduct
  • Make Music Great Again!
  • The Gospel According to Us
  • Cash Flow & Skills Transfer: Life After the Music Stops
  • Sisters Behind The Beat: Invisible… but Invaluable
  • Gender Equality: Women, Leadership & Roadmaps to the Top
  • Sisterhood Ministry & Soul Wealth: Powered by The Skin We’re In

All sessions will be lead by industry veterans and experts in their respective fields. Notable speakers will include Gina Miller (VP & GM, Entertainment One Nashville), Natina A. Nimene (VP, Urban Promotion, Def Jam Records), Thea Mitchem (EVP Programming, iHeart Media/WWPR), and Professor Tonya Butler, Esq. (Assistant Chair, Music Business/Berklee College) are just a few of the music and entertainment executives and major players who will share their vast knowledge, give valuable advice and even provide some vital insider tips to Summit attendees.

“There is no question the progression to empower women is stronger now than ever,” says Johnnie Walker, NABFEME Founder and CEO. “The MisEducation of Women in Entertainment is a giveback to a gender that has long been misled, misunderstood, mistreated and misrepresented. The NABFEME Summit will be a profound catalyst of mentoring, teaching, empowerment, self-respect and sisterhood.”

In addition to the seminars, panel discussions and workshops, there will also be several key signature events where attendees and special invited guests will have to opportunity to not only network but celebrate the accomplishments of phenomenal women of color in the music and entertainment industries. Scheduled events include:
