What You Missed: SS15 @ NYFW (Recap)

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week 2014 Recap

by Kyle Murray

Eight days of jaw-dropping designs, sample and plus size models, creative make-up concepts, simply chic shoes and refreshing hairstyles. There were a lot of celebrities spotted at shows and just out about in the city; some even dressed in Spring 15 designs before they even hit the runway, however, I loved seeing those unknown personalities rocking the best in “Street Style” whose unique style choices landed them in all the popular online magazines, blogs, Instagram posts and other various forms of social media–keeping them fashion’s best kept secrets (or next big things, depending on how your perspective).

shadesFashion week kicked off September 4, 2014 promptly at 9am with Nicholas K and ended September 11 with Art Hearts Fashion Show supporting AIDS Healthcare Foundation. If you were lucky enough to be in town for all the NYFW festivities, chances are you attended at least one of the shows from our favorite go to designers: Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Michael Costello, DKNY, BOSS, Michael Kors or Betsey Johnson. Unfortunately, if you were like me and weren’t able to make it to New York this season, then I hope you watched all the coverage online. I watched the spectacular shows LIVE conveniently on my  iPAD. I thoroughly enjoyed David Tlale, J Crew and BOSS just to name a FEW!

ShoesSpring/Summer 15 collections showcased the typical spring colors, mixed prints, but gave us a few more cuts and new concepts to get the perfect look next year. Pastels, nude, white and black are my favorite colors. Metallics and shimmer are must haves in your wardrobe–doesn’t matter if it is a hat, shoe, purse, dress or blazer, it will definitely add a lot of SHINE in the spring/summer months. Distressed denim, open toe sandals and prints are in for both men and women.
