The Launch: ONE DOLLAR COLLEGE Foundation

With the help of citizens nationwide, One Dollar College Foundation is launching its From Concept 2 Reality Campaign, aimed at heightening awareness about the organizations mission to send young adults to college on full-ride scholarships – solely funded by individual donations of one dollar or more. Who knew four quarters could make such a big difference! Most of us have lost that much in the crevices of our couches, right?

With the One Dollar College Foundation, college goers will no longer have to rely on subsidized and unsubsidized loans to cover tuition, housing, meal plans, books and other educational expenses. The organization will remove the burden of postgraduate debt and help students go to college by paying for their undergraduate programs. The initial phase is to raise funds through the From Concept 2 Reality Campaign to establish the One Dollar College Foundation.

“We chose one dollar because it does not challenge current household budgets and most can afford that amount. We believe talented students should not have to begin young adulthood, right out of college, in debt,” says Tiffany Jones, founder of One Dollar College.

The From Concept 2 Reality Campaign is a call to action to the public to help raise $15,000 to launch One Dollar College Foundation in North Carolina by June 2012. It will take approximately six months after reaching this goal to legally structure the foundation. Every dollar donated will go toward registration, licenses, trademarks, marketing and other fees associated with the formation of One Dollar College Foundation.
