You do not want to miss this year’s World AIDS Day benefit.  Not only are we going to support and raise money for The Red Pump Project and Regional AIDS Interfaith Network, we are going to party with a purpose, bring awareness and education as well as celebrate life.  Really, what more can you ask for?

Chirl Girl

Cheryl “Chirl Girl” Patterson-Coad loves to talk!  But, things didn’t start that way for this North Carolina native.  In fact, this little girl from Salisbury,  didn’t say her first words until she was almost 2 years old, when she told her sister, who was picking with her, to “Leave me ‘lone!”  And pretty much since that day, Chirl Girl has not shut her mouth and will talk to any and everybody!  Fortunately, that’s what she gets paid to do every day on the radio!  Chirl Girl can be heard weekdays on V101.9, 10am-3pm.   Her love of radio started almost 20 years ago, when a revival preacher heard her do the “Junior Church Report” and asked her to read the ‘sick and shut-in” list on his radio show!  Now, with almost 20 years of radio under belt, Chirl Girl has co-hosted and produced morning shows for Kevin “Cooling” Foxx, The Breakfast Brotha’s ,  Tom Joyner and Steve Harvey.  Chirl was also the first African-American to host a show on Charlotte’s #1 County station, WSOC.   These days, she stays busy, hosting and producing her own show on WBAV, the highest-ranking Urban Adult Contemporary radio station in the Queen City.  This “Mid-Day Diva” has been recognized for work by NABFEM, The Easter Stars and BET just sent her a certificate of achievement for being a positive role model and a “Black Girl Who Rock!”  She is also a proud alumni of the NC School of the Arts and UNC- Chapel Hill and just got married, so while she may have started out with nothing to say, Chirl Girl has got a lot to talk about now!

You can follow her at www.Twitter.com/ChirlGirl , www.Facebook.com/Chirl Girl and email her at ChirlGirl@V1019.com.

Yasmin Young (Official Red Pump/Red Tie DJ)

Emcees and DJs provide the atmosphere of any good party. But it requires more than technical equipment to entertain a crowd. Since her youth, Yasmin Young knew she had a passion for music and later discovered her personality for radio. Recently joining the #1 station in Charlotte, NC as the morning show co-host on Power 98, DJ Jazzy Yazzy has turned a childhood pastime into a fulfilling career.

Taking a break from radio in 2000, she pursued her Master’s degree in Media from NYU. When Yasmin returned to Tallahassee in 2002, she was hired by WWLD, Blazin 102.3 as a morning show producer/news reporter for the Doug Banks Morning Show. She also worked weekends improving her skills and worked as a promotional spokesperson and event emcee. The sacrifice paid off. In May of 2009, she was promoted to doing nights on Blazin 102.3. In April of 2010, she was recruited for the #1 morning show in Charlotte, leaping from market #162 to #24.

Inspired by the music itself, as well as media veterans like Terri Thomas, Hurricane Dave, Terri Avery, Miss Jones, Wendy Williams, Oprah, Ellen and Tyra, Yasmin is encouraged by their achievements. In working towards her own goals, she received the TJs DJs Platinum Needle Award, Ozone Magazine’s Sexiest Female DJ recognition, and nominations for Break-Out Personality and Best Female DJ at the Southern Entertainment Awards.
