Charlotte Chef to Appear on Food Network’s Chopped
Local Chef  Debuts on National Television

CHARLOTTE. N.C. (July 29, 2011) Executive Chef and owner of Chateau Noir, LLC, Chef Jay Jones will make his national television debut on Food Network’s “Chopped” airing on Tuesday August 2 at 10:00 p.m. EST.

“Chef Jay,” as he is affectionately known all around the Charlotte area, has been in the culinary arts for more than 15 years. Chef Jay is a graduate of the prestigious French Culinary Institute in New York City, and his culinary career has taken him across the nation as well as around the world where he worked with some of the best chefs and industry leaders in the hospitality industry. His experience and knowledge has given him the opportunity to be on one of the most watched food competition shows, Food Network’s “Chopped.”

“Being on the show was such an amazing experience,” says Chef Jay. “This allows me to show the world what I love to do—cook, entertain and make people happy.”

In addition to being an exceptional chef, planning countless high profile events, serving as a contributing writer for numerous publications and hosting his own show, “Culinary Creations with Chef Jay,” Chef Jay is a dedicated philanthropist who uses his talents to serve the community. He created The Joseph Jones Culinary Education Scholarship Fund (in honor of his father) for aspiring culinary students of all ages. He routinely volunteers his services for several community organizations including Village at Hope Haven (Alcohol and Substance Abuse Recovery), The Salvation Army Women and Children’s Shelter and The Men’s Shelter of Charlotte. Chef Jay is currently developing the “An Apple A Day” program as part of Amped Fitness, a division of Amped 4-A-Cure, Inc., a nonprofit organization supporting cancer research, awareness and education through music.

The official viewing party is at Loft 1523 (1523 Elizabeth Ave.) on August 2. The festivities will begin at 9:00 p.m. with complimentary food and a meet and greet with Chef Jay. The show airs at 10 p.m. and will be followed by an “Ask Chef Jay” Q & A session. Guests can expect lots of food, fun, and fellowship. This event is open to the public and will be hosted by Chris Williams (speaker/radio personality). Chef Jay will also make some exciting announcements.
