A retro-inspired coffee shop where guests drop the needle on a rented turntable by day and order a crafted cocktail by night, built around vinyl, hospitality, and belonging
Charlotte, NC (July 11, 2026) – At Café Audire, a morning pour-over comes with the option to rent a turntable and drop the needle on a record, and the same room turns into a craft-cocktail bar and serves shareable punch bowls after dark. The retro-inspired coffee shop and vinyl listening lounge in NoDa celebrates its grand opening on Saturday, July 18 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., debuting its full experience, including its retro ’60s–’70s cocktail program, at The Pass, the mixed-use development at 4090 Raleigh St. across from Sorella Apartments. Already open by day, the café was conceived as a neighborhood living room centered on craft coffee, curated music, and a sense of belonging. Founded by owner Vishal Sanghvi, the café takes its name from audire, the Latin word for “to hear,” a nod to the listening culture at its core.
“Café Audire is about more than a good cup of coffee,” Sanghvi says. “It’s about giving the neighborhood a place to slow down, drop the needle on a record, and actually connect. I always thought about creating a space like that of my own one day, where people come for community and belonging, and stay for the music.”
To celebrate the grand opening, Café Audire will welcome the community on July 18 with a signature cocktail lounge preview debuting the café’s retro ’60s–’70s craft cocktail program, curated listening sessions with DJ-inspired playlists throughout the day, charcuterie by CHERcuterie Boards & Sweets, giveaways, and more.
Spanning 1,107 square feet, the mid-century modern space seats roughly 30 guests indoors, with additional patio seating, and features a curated vinyl collection and local artwork available for purchase. Acclaimed artist Scott Weaver provided expert interior design for the space. Guests can rent a record player and vinyl for a private listening party, including portable Sound Burger turntables with headphones, and explore a revolving quarterly record library. The café will also host community-driven programming, such as customer nights, record swaps, and spoken-word poetry events. Café Audire features a craft coffee and pour-over program using carefully sourced beans, complemented by pastries from local bakeries. The menu includes a specialty chai made with a house masala blend based on a family recipe. Café Audire is the latest tenant to open at The Pass, a mixed-use development also home to Soul Gastrolounge, Borderline Bar & Billiards and PINE, with The Dog’s Club and Mariah’s Taco Spot on the way.
The Café Audire concept took root decades ago, thousands of miles away. As an international student at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, Sanghvi spent his free time at a Brazilian café where students from around the world gathered to talk, debate politics, and discover new music.
Café Audire is located at 4090 Raleigh St., across from Sorella Apartments in NoDa. The café is open Mondays from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Tuesday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to midnight; Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to midnight; and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. For more information regarding the grand opening, general inquiries, or interview requests with Vishal Sanghvi, please contact Jameka Whitten at 704.965.3297 or jameka@jswmediagroup.com.
