Amélie’s French Bakery & Café Closes Uptown Charlotte Location

The doors of the beloved bakery’s Uptown location will close on Sunday, Nov. 8

Amélie’s French Bakery & Café announces the closing of its Uptown site, which is located on the corner of Martin Luther King Blvd and South College Street in the Two Wells Fargo building right in the heart of Uptown Charlotte. The final day of service will be on Sunday, November 8.

For nearly five years, Amélie’s has served customers in Uptown. The largest of all of the locations, featuring a commissary kitchen, the Uptown location hosted many special moments including bridal showers, engagement parties, baby showers, and Mother’s Day lunches. This location proved to be a popular gathering spot for Charlotte’s community.

As is the case with many restaurants in Uptown, COVID-19 restrictions and businesses adopting a remote working model have greatly impacted the once-bustling Uptown location. As a result, with heavy hearts and careful deliberation, Amelie’s ownership has made the difficult decision to close this location.

Amelie’s top priority is to ensure that our team members are taken care of during this transition so we have offered all of our Uptown staff new job opportunities at the other Amélie’s locations. Amélie’s locations at NoDa, Park Road, Carmel Commons, and Rock Hill will remain open.

The public is invited to say goodbye to this beautiful location before they close the doors on Sunday, November 8 at 2:00 p.m. Amélie’s is thankful for the tremendous support over the years and for all of the Uptown memories.
